HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN TINGKAT PENDIDIKAN DAN POLA ASUH IBU TERHADAP KEJADIAN STUNTING PADA BALITA DI WILAYAH KERJA UPTD PUSKESMAS KARANG TUMARITIS

Background: : According to secondary data from the Nabire District Health Service, the total incidence of stunting in 2022 was 727 cases with a percentage of 15.2%, while in January 2023 there were 462 total cases of stunting. The incidence of stunting can continue to increase if the factors of maternal knowledge, maternal education and parenting patterns are not taken into account. Objective: To identify the relationship between knowledge, level of education and parenting patterns with the incidence of stunting in children aged 24-59 months in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Karang Tumaritis, Kab. Nabire, Papua. Method: This research is quantitative research using a case control design. The population of this study were 12 toddlers aged 24-59 months who experienced stunting in the Karang Tumaritis Community Health Center working area in June with a sample of 11 toddlers. The calculation of the number of research samples was carried out using a sample flow diagram and data analysis using chi-square test analysis. Results: The relationship between maternal knowledge about stunting and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months has a p-value of 0.006 (p<0.05). The relationship between the incidence of stunting and maternal education has a p-value of 0.158 (p<0.05). The relationship between parenting styles and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months has a p-value of 0.016 (p<0.05).Conclusion: Based on the research results, there is a relationship between maternal knowledge about stunting and parenting patterns on the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Karang Tumaritis and there is no relationship between the level of maternal education and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of the Karang Tumaritis Health Center UPTD.Recommendation: There is a need for support from various parties in increasing knowledge about stunting and parenting patterns, especially families, in preventing and reducing the incidence of stunting.
