Abstract

Knowledge of parents, especially mothers, can influence a child's growth and development, the better a mother's knowledge, the more it can influence the provision of good and appropriate complementary breast milk (MP- ASI) so that the nutritional status of her child will be better. Objective: To determine the relationship between maternal knowledge about giving MP-ASI and the nutritional status of toddler aged 6-24 months at the Mawar Merah Posyandu in the UPTD work area of the Bumiwonorejo Community Health Center. Method: The research design used in this research is quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. The population in this study was 50 mothers with toddler aged 6-24 months and a sample of 50 people. The sampling technique used total sampling technique and data analysis used chi-square test analysis. Results: Knowledge about giving MP-ASI in the good category with the number of toddler in the good nutrition category based on the BB PB index being 35 toddler (97.2%), and some mothers in the poor knowledge category were 4 mothers (8.0%), with the number of toddler in the well-nourished category being 1 baby (2.8%). The results of data processing using Chi-Square showed a p value <0.05, namely p = 0.041. Conclusion: That there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge about giving MP-ASI and the nutritional status of toddler aged 6-24 months at the Mawar Merah Posyandu in the Work Area UPTD Bumiwonorejo Community Health Center. Suggestion: It is hoped that community health center officers can continue to provide education/counseling in the local area about providing MP-ASI to mothers who have toddler aged <6 months and pregnant women
