Abstract

Underweight is a condition of undernutrition caused by consuming insufficient nutrition according to needs within a certain period of time so that the body will break down food that is under the layer of fat and layers of body organs.Objective: To determine the factors associated with malnutrition status in toddlers aged 6-59 months in the UPTD Working Area of the Karang Mulia Community Health Center, Nabire Regency.Method: This type of research uses quantitative methods with an analytical research design with the type of research carried out being quantitative and a cross sectional approach design. The population of this study was 224 toddlers with 70 samples that met the criteria. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data analysis used SPSS version 16.0 and carried out the chi-square test.Results: The results of the analysis of the relationship between maternal knowledge and malnutrition status obtained a p-value of 0.007 <0.05, which means there is a relationship, there is a relationship between parenting patterns and malnutrition status with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05.Conclusion: Based on the results of research on factors related to malnutrition status, there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and malnutrition status and there is a relationship between parenting patterns and malnutrition status.Suggestion: For the community in the Karang Mulia Health Center UPTD work area, it is hoped that parents can make efforts to fulfill the nutrition of children under five 0-59 months by giving breast milk to children, providing balanced nutrition to children and serving a more varied menu every day to help children's growth and development.
