Abstract

Overweight is a condition characterized by being overweight or above ideal, while obesity is a chronic condition characterized by the accumulation of fat in the body. Data from the health service in Nabire Regency in 2022 was 39.6% overweight while obesity was 47.8%. The initial survey conducted at SD Inpres Karang Mulia Nabire obtained data from the Karang Mulia Nabire Community Health Center showing that overweight and obesity at SD Inpres Karang Mulia, the nutritional status of those weighed in 2022 was found to be overweight at 19.8% and obesity at 22.3% of children. SD Inpres Karang Mulia Nabire.Objective: To determine the relationship between physical activity and eating patterns with the incidence of overweight and obesity at SD Inpres Karang Mulia Nabire. Method: This research was quantitative with a Cross Sectional study approach carried out at SD Inpres Karang Mulia Nabire City, Central Papua Province from February to July 2023. The sample in this study was 32 children with a total sampling method, the research instrument used Questionnaire with interview and anthropometry. The data were primary and secondary data. Data processing was carried out using a computer with the SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Science) version 16 application with the Pearson correlation test, then tested using univariate and bivariate analysis.Results: There were a relationship between body weight and the incidence of overweight and obesity; a relationship between food processing (vegetable processing) and the incidence of overweight and obesity; and a relationship between food consumption patterns (noodle consumption) and respondents' nutritional intake (energy and carbohydrate intake levels). There was no relationship between physical activity levels and the incidence of overweight and obesity. Conclusion: There were a relationship between body weight and food processing (vegetable processing) with incidence of overweight and obesity. Suggestion: School have to provide education on balanced nutrition and be active in doing sports together to maintain students' health and preventing the increase in the number of children who are obese and overweight
